About the Close De La Roche Grand Cru
Crafted in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy, France, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is the undisputed benchmark vineyard of the Morey-Saint-Denis village. Situated on the upper slope at the northern boundary bordering Gevrey-Chambertin, this famous 16.9-hectare Grand Cru site thrives on a thin layer of scree and clay topsoil over solid Bajocian limestone bedrock ("la roche"). Old-vine Pinot Noir planted in this limestone bench yields fruit renowned for its unique combination of power, wild dark berry concentration, and stony minerality. Vinified using traditional hand-sorting, gentle extraction, and French oak barrel maturation, Clos de la Roche produces an age-worthy, muscular Burgundy with extraordinary aromatic persistence and structural depth.
Food Pairing: Pan-seared venison tenderloin, roasted duck breast, rack of lamb, coq au vin, truffled wild mushroom risotto, and aged French cheeses like Époisses or Comté.
