97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2020 Château Clos Fourtet is a brilliant Saint-Émilion that ranks among the finest wines of the vintage. Composed of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, it reveals aromas of dark cherry, cassis, chalky minerality, pencil shavings and white flowers. Full-bodied and impeccably balanced, it combines seamless oak integration, vibrant acidity and exceptional mineral precision. Built for the long term, it should be cellared until 2031 and will continue to evolve for 30–40+ years.
97 Points - James Suckling
Subtle aromas of orange peel, sweet tobacco and currants introduce a refined, tightly wound wine with fine-textured tannins and remarkable freshness. Elegant and persistent, the finish lingers with impressive precision. A beautifully structured Clos Fourtet that will reward patience.
96 Points - Decanter
Rich aromas of damson and blueberry lead into a concentrated yet vibrant palate where the estate's limestone terroir shines through. Juicy fruit, excellent freshness and remarkable balance define this outstanding vintage. Aged for 14–18 months in the château's underground limestone cellars, the 2020 also celebrates 20 years of Cuvelier family ownership, showcasing the estate at its very best.
96 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This powerful wine combines massive structure with generous black fruit and firm, serious tannins. Bright acidity adds freshness and lift, balancing the wine's dense texture and giving it impressive aging potential.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2020 Château Clos Fourtet offers expressive aromas of dark berries, plum preserves and pencil shavings framed by well-integrated new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, it features a rich core of ripe fruit supported by powdery, youthful tannins. Thanks to its limestone terroir, the wine retains exceptional freshness and vibrancy despite the warmth of the vintage. Best enjoyed after 2028.
94 Points - Wine Spectator
Beautifully balanced, this wine rises above the heat of the vintage with a focused core of dark currant and blackberry fruit layered with licorice, violet, alder and tobacco notes. Crafted from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it delivers excellent precision, freshness and length.
