About the Clos Fourtet 2014
A Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion, Clos Fourtet is renowned for its limestone plateau terroir and remarkable elegance. It reveals aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cassis, violet, graphite, cedar, dark chocolate, and subtle baking spice. Richly concentrated yet impeccably refined, it delivers velvety tannins, vibrant freshness, exceptional precision, and a remarkably long finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, duck breast, venison, mushroom risotto, black truffle dishes, aged Comté, or braised short ribs.
95 Points - Wine Spectator
A sleek and beautifully focused Saint-Émilion, the 2014 Clos Fourtet delivers pure currant and raspberry fruit that races across the palate with remarkable energy. A chalky mineral backbone provides outstanding tension, while delicate floral nuances add elegance. Built for graceful evolution, it will blossom into an exceptionally perfumed wine. Best from 2022 through 2035.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Clos Fourtet has evolved into a remarkably perfumed wine with precise aromas of black cherry, raspberry and mineral notes. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, it combines supple red cherry and cranberry fruit with fine yet firm tannins. Restrained in style but full of focus and intensity, it finishes with vivid mineral-driven fruit and outstanding persistence.
94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Ripe black cherry aromas lead into a fresh, fruit-driven palate supported by enough structure to ensure long-term aging. Crisp and refined, the wine finishes with smoky, toasted notes that hint at its continued development in bottle.
93 Points - Decanter
A beautifully poised wine with an ideal level of ripeness. Tiny berry fruit, finely etched tannins and a silky texture highlight the limestone terroir, while abundant yet refined tannins carry through to a long, persistent and elegant finish.
93 Points - James Suckling
Rich and decadent, the 2014 Clos Fourtet combines medium- to full-bodied concentration with firm, silky tannins and vibrant, juicy fruit. Its youthful austerity is balanced by impressive length and flavor, promising greater beauty with additional bottle age. Best enjoyed from 2020 onward.
