Chateau Sociando Mallet Haut Medoc

Crafted in the northern communes of the Haut-Médoc appellation in Bordeaux, France, Château Sociando-Mallet is a legendary, cult-status estate famous for producing wines that routinely rival classified Grand Cru Classé properties in blind tastings. Built into a world-class reference point by the late Jean Gautreau over five decades, the property sits on an extraordinary 85-hectare gravel ridge in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne overlooking the Gironde estuary. The vineyard's deep Günzian gravel topsoils over clay subsoils provide exceptional thermal regulation and natural drainage. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the vines yield fruit defined by classical Left Bank power, brooding dark fruit depth, and firm, age-worthy tannic structure. Vinified parcel-by-parcel in traditional temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats, the wine matures for 12 to 15 months in fine French oak barrels (90–100% new). Refusing classification to maintain total independence, Château Sociando-Mallet is globally revered by collectors for its uncompromising authenticity, striking graphite minerality, and multi-decade cellar longevity.
