About the Chateau Senejac Haut Medoc
Crafted in the southern reaches of the Haut-Médoc appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France, Château Sénéjac is a historic estate dating back to the 16th century, widely celebrated as one of the finest Cru Bourgeois properties in the Médoc. Owned by the Bignon-Cordier family (who also own the esteemed Saint-Julien Grand Cru estate Château Talbot), the property has undergone a dramatic transformation, benefiting from elite winemaking stewardship led by world-renowned consultant Alfred Tesseron (Château Pontet-Canet) and technical director Nicolas TIenpont. The estate's 39-hectare single-block vineyard sits on deep, gravelly ridges over limestone and clay subsoils in the commune of Le Pian-Médoc, providing exceptional natural drainage and heat retention. Heavily dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the vines yield fruit defined by classic Left Bank structure, fresh berry purity, and savory complexity. Vinified plot-by-plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, the wine matures for 12 to 15 months in fine French oak barrels (approximately 30% new). Château Sénéjac delivers a classic, age-worthy, and texturally plush Bordeaux that stands as an absolute benchmark for value and quality in the Haut-Médoc.
Food Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, pork tenderloin with berry reduction, wild mushroom ragù, and fine aged French cheeses like Comté or Gouda.
