About the Chateau Laroque Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe
Crafted in the prestigious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France, Château Laroque is a historic estate perched atop the highest elevation point in Saint-Émilion. Dating back to the 12th century, this majestic 61-hectare property has experienced a dramatic quality resurgence under the brilliant direction of managing director and winemaker David Suire. Situated on a prime limestone plateau with thin clay soils overlying solid asteria limestone bedrock, the vineyard is planted predominantly to old-vine Merlot complemented by Cabernet Franc. Meticulously farmed with parcel-by-parcel precision and organic practices, the fruit is hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats before aging for 16 to 18 months in fine French oak barrels and Austrian oak foudres. Château Laroque is celebrated for its radiant fruit purity, soaring floral aromatics, chalky mineral tension, and exceptional cellaring capability.
Food Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, pork tenderloin with berry reduction, wild mushroom ragù, and fine aged French cheeses like Comté or Saint-Nectaire.
