About the Chateau La Chenade Lalande de Pomerol
Crafted in the esteemed Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France, Château La Chenade is a outstanding, highly acclaimed estate created by the late, legendary Denis Durantou of Château L’Église-Clinet. Today continuing under the precise stewardship of his daughters, the vineyard is situated on the fine gravel and clay terraces of Néac, just north of Pomerol proper. Planted predominantly with Merlot and balanced with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, the vines thrive in well-draining gravel soils overlying clay subsoils, giving the wine a distinct Pomerol-like charm, aromatic purity, and fleshy texture. Meticulously vinified parcel-by-parcel in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine ages for 12 to 14 months in fine French oak barrels (approximately 30% new). Château La Chenade delivers a brilliant, plush, and accessible Right Bank expression that offers remarkable value and early-to-medium-term drinking pleasure.
Food Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, pork tenderloin with plum reduction, wild mushroom ragù, roasted duck breast, and aged hard cheeses like Comté or Gouda.
