About the Chateau Canon Saint-Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe
Crafted on the famed limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France, Château Canon Premier Grand Cru Classé is an extraordinary, globally celebrated blue-chip red wine. Owned by the Wertheimer family (owners of House of Chanel) since 1996, the estate has undergone meticulous vineyard restoration and gravity-fed cellar modernization, elevating it to the absolute peak of fine Bordeaux winemaking. Situated on a prime 34-hectare limestone terrace overlooking the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, the vines thrive in clay-limestone soils over solid limestone bedrock. Dominated by old-vine Merlot supported by elegant Cabernet Franc, the estate produces a red wine famed for its remarkable aromatic complexity, seamless silkiness, and distinct chalky mineral backbone. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (50% new), Château Canon represents the epitome of Right Bank elegance, purity, and long-term cellaring potential.
Food Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, duck breast with berry reduction, truffled mushroom risotto, and fine aged French cheeses like Comté, Saint-Nectaire, or Brie de Meaux.
