Chateau Calon Segur 1.5L Magnum

Crafted in the famed Saint-Estèphe appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France, Château Calon-Ségur 3ème Grand Cru Classé Magnum (1.5L) is an iconic, highly collectible blue-chip Bordeaux red presented in a impressive single magnum format. As the northernmost 1855 Classified Growth in the Médoc, Château Calon-Ségur boasts an illustrious heritage famously summarized by its 18th-century owner, the Marquis de Ségur (who also owned Château Lafite and Château Latour): "I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon." This deep affection is permanently captured by the iconic heart motif on its label. Situated on deep, thick gravel deposits over a subsoil of clay and limestone, the estate’s historic walled vineyard yields fruit of immense structural power, dark berry density, and classic Saint-Estèphe longevity. A Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend rounded out with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Bottled in magnum, the larger 1.5L format allows for slower, more graceful maturation, preserving vibrant fruit freshness while developing complex, savory nuances over decades.

Food Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, venison tenderloin, roasted game birds, truffled wild mushroom risotto, and fine aged French cheeses like Comté or Saint-Nectaire.
