About the Checkmate Fool's Mate Chardonnay 2019
Checkmate Fool's Mate Chardonnay 2019 is an exceptionally complex, full-bodied white wine crafted from five distinct estate vineyard sites across the southern Okanagan Valley. Fermented with wild yeast and aged in French oak barriques, foudres, and concrete eggs, it opens with layered aromas of orchard blossom, yellow pear, fresh peach, and citrus peel, complemented by subtle hints of graphite and baking spices. The palate is rich and highly textured, delivering focused flavors of ripe pear, nectarine, and lemon curd balanced by bright acidity, stone minerality, and a lingering, saline-tinged finish.
Food Pairing: Pan-seared halibut with lemon butter sauce, roasted chicken, Dungeness crab, lobster bisque, or a rich mushroom risotto.
