About the Chateau Saint Pierre 2019
A prestigious Fourth Growth Saint-Julien, Château Saint-Pierre is celebrated for its concentration, finesse, and longevity. It reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, cedar, graphite, tobacco, violet, and subtle baking spice. Richly structured yet beautifully refined, it delivers silky tannins, vibrant freshness, exceptional precision, and a long, elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, roast lamb, duck breast, venison, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, or braised short ribs.
96 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2019 Château Saint-Pierre is composed of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot. Rich, powerful and beautifully concentrated, it offers aromas of blackcurrants, smoked earth, chocolate and violets. Medium- to full-bodied, it combines impressive freshness, purity and finely polished tannins with a more elegant palate than the nose suggests. Allow 4–6 years of bottle age, then enjoy over the next three decades.
96 Points - James Suckling
A classic Saint-Julien, displaying aromas of blackcurrants, violets and sandalwood. Full-bodied with beautifully layered, polished tannins, it delivers remarkable depth and a long, flavorful finish. Structured, refined and built for aging.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep purple-black in color, the 2019 Saint-Pierre bursts from the glass with vibrant aromas of crushed black and red currants, black raspberries and boysenberries, complemented by lavender, tilled earth, pencil shavings, camphor and hints of red roses. Medium-bodied yet densely packed, it offers muscular dark fruit, ripe grainy tannins, exceptional freshness and a long, mineral-driven finish. Another outstanding success from this estate.
95 Points - Decanter
A powerful and tightly structured Saint-Julien layered with cassis, bilberry, crushed stone, baked earth, tobacco and black pepper spice. Firmly built with abundant tannins, it requires patience but promises outstanding rewards with maturity. Aged in 55% new oak.
94 Points - Wine Spectator
Ripe, well-built and classically styled, this wine balances a rounded texture with notes of warm earth, sweet tobacco and savory spice surrounding flavors of plum, black cherry and cassis. A persistent iron note adds freshness and tension to the long finish. Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2024 onward.
