About the Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2020
A Grand Cru Classé de Graves white and one of Bordeaux's finest dry white wines, Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc reveals aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, white peach, pear, acacia blossom, vanilla, flint, and toasted hazelnut. Richly textured yet impeccably fresh, it delivers vibrant acidity, remarkable minerality, exceptional precision, and an extraordinarily long, elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with lobster, scallops, turbot, grilled sea bass, roast chicken, creamy seafood pasta, aged goat cheese, or butter-poached shellfish.
100 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2020 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is pure perfection, crafted from 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Sémillon, with aging in 50% new French oak. Exceptionally rich, concentrated and powerful, it offers captivating aromas of honeyed flowers, orange marmalade, lemongrass and toasted bread. Layers of vibrant salinity and pronounced minerality build through the palate, leading to a remarkably long finish. A stunning, age-worthy white to enjoy over the next two decades.
98 Points - Wine Enthusiast
A beautifully balanced white wine, combining elegant texture with vibrant fruit and refreshing acidity. Richness is perfectly matched by crisp green fruit flavors, while impressive complexity and depth create remarkable intensity. Built for long-term cellaring.
97 Points - James Suckling
Aromatic and expressive, with notes of grapefruit, melon, ripe apple, lemon and generous lemon curd. Full-bodied and layered, the palate is energetic and vivid, supported by fine phenolics, pronounced minerality and a lightly chewy finish. Produced from organically grown grapes, the blend is 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Sémillon.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2020 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is composed of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Sémillon. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in 50% new French oak, it matured on lees for 12 months with bâtonnage before a short period in tank. Vibrant aromas of lime blossom, Golden Delicious apple and green mango are accented by coriander seed, fresh ginger and wet stone. Medium-bodied and beautifully harmonious, it delivers bright citrus and orchard fruit flavors with soft acidity and a refined chalky finish.
95 Points - Wine Spectator
Suave and beautifully textured, this white layers creamed yellow apple, gooseberry and lemon curd with notes of tarragon, blanched almond and salted butter. Hints of paraffin and delicate smoke add complexity to the long, polished finish. Crafted from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris, it is approachable now while retaining excellent depth and refinement.
