About the Chateau Prieure-Lichine 2015
Chateau Prieure-Lichine 2015 is a spectacularly elegant and concentrated Margaux that showcases the sheer excellence of the 2015 vintage. It opens with an expressive, perfumed bouquet of fresh redcurrants, dark plums, and black cherries, delicately layered with nuances of violets, sweet baking spices, cedar, and pencil shavings. On the palate, the wine is sumptuous, bold, and brilliantly structured, offering a remarkably smooth, velvety core of dense black and red fruit. It balances the generosity and richness of the fruit with classic Margaux finesse, framed by firm, refined tannins and a lively line of acidity. The finish is persistent, sophisticated, and gracefully lifted by savory touches of black tea, licorice, and a hint of mint.
Food Pairing: This classic, well-structured Bordeaux pairs perfectly with hearty main courses such as prime rib roast, grilled sirloin steak with a rich Merlot reduction, herb-crusted rack of lamb, slow-braised beef short ribs, or an earthy mushroom and truffle risotto.
Some very ripe dark-plum aromas with a wealth of sweet spices and earthy notes. The palate has an impressively rich, suave and smooth core of black fruit with a powerful palate that delivers concentrated and intense structure. This is superb Margaux. Try from 2022.
This is a perfumed wine, rich in black currants and acidity as well as firm tannins. It is concentrated and dense while also elegant. The aftertaste boosts the ripe fruit and balanced acidity. Drink from 2025.
A fleshy, seductive, fruit-driven style, featuring layers of warm fig, boysenberry and blackberry compote gliding along. Lovely black tea and licorice notes gild the finish, with a flash of very fine-grained alder weaving in as well. Shows good latent depth here despite the forward style, so no rush at all. Best from 2022 through 2035.
