About the Chateau Pichon Baron 2009
Chateau Pichon Baron is a powerful Pauillac red offering concentrated blackcurrant, graphite, and cedar notes. Full-bodied with structured tannins and firm acidity, it delivers depth, precision, and a long, mineral-driven finish. A classic Left Bank wine known for its aging potential and refined balance.
Food Pairing: Pairs best with steak, lamb, grilled meats, game, and aged hard cheeses.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Pichon-Longueville Baron has a medium to deep garnet color and a very meaty, savory nose over a core of baked blackberries and plums with notes of creme de cassis, herbs and black olives. Full, rich and concentrated on the palate, it has beautifully plush tannins and an herbal lift on the long finish.
95 Points - James Suckling
Bold, smoky and chocolatey, this is a concentrated and massive wine for the Medoc, the alcohol showing slightly at the bold warm finish. Drink or hold.
95 Points - Wine Spectator
This delivers a massive core of black fig, black currant paste and roasted fruit, backed by cedar, bay leaf and tobacco. Long and authoritative, with racy acidity giving balance for long-term cellaring. Best from 2013 through 2030.
