Chateau Phelan Segur 2019

Chateau Phelan Segur is a Saint-Estephe red produced from an estate vineyard planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The Grand Vin combines structure, freshness, fruit concentration, and refined tannins, expressing the distinctive gravel and clay terroir of Saint-Estephe.

Food Pairing: Pairs best with herb-crusted lamb rack, braised beef cheeks, venison, or aged Comte.

96 Points - James Suckling

This is a very classically structured Bordeaux with blackcurrant, walnut, cedar and hints of toasted oak. It is reserved now, but shows very serious, polished tannins, persistent power, fantastic length and impressive precision.

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2019 Phelan Segur offers cassis, sweet wild berries, rose petals, violets, licorice and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it combines tangy acidity with powdery tannins and a long, penetrating finish.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast

The estate continues its move toward finely structured wines, with this vintage showing serious concentration of fruit highlighted by bright acidity and substantial potential for aging.

94 Points - Wine Spectator

Dark blackberry and black currant preserve flavors are supported by bay leaf, charcoal and warm paving stone notes. The finish remains grounded and structured, showing ample framework for further development in the cellar.
