About the Chateau Montifaud 50 Year Old Cognac 700ml
"Cognac of exception for a man of exception, Louis Vallet (4th generation), who launched the sale in bottles in Chateau Montifaud. L50 is a rare blend of very old cognacs. The first cognac distilled by Louis Vallet (4th generation) has been selected to be part of this family treasure. Artisanal Distillation with lees, aged in "roux" french oak casks then in old casks for much more than the 6 years required by the regulation. At the present time it ages in old casks, but will be soon in “demijohn”. The percentage of alcohol of this very old cognac has decreased naturally to 50% Alc. then it is reduced of 5%vol a year to reach 40%vol. The very special reduction process used for all our qualities gives cognacs very soft, circles, but also complex and mature.
Its dress is copper coloured and the number of years allowed the spreading out of walnut aromas, cigar box and spicy notes. Very mellow, round with an exceptional "rancio" typical of the very very old cognacs and an incredible length on the palate." - Chateau Montifaud
