About the Chateau Margaux 1979
Chateau Margaux is one of Bordeaux's most legendary First Growth estates, revered for its extraordinary elegance, finesse, and longevity. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry, violet, cedar, graphite, and exotic spice unfold into a seamless palate with silky tannins, exceptional purity, remarkable complexity, and an endlessly refined finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, or aged Comte for an unforgettable First Growth Bordeaux experience.
93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This wine is only now reaching full maturity, much later than initially expected. A classy and elegant expression of Château Margaux, it displays a dark ruby-purple color and a moderately intense bouquet of sweet black currant fruit intertwined with mineral notes, vanilla and delicate floral aromas. Medium-bodied, it offers beautifully sweet fruit with a linear, more tightly knit structure and a fine inner core of richness. Harmonious and refined rather than monumental, it continues to age effortlessly and seems to gain additional character with every passing year.
