About the Chateau Mangot Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2020
Chateau Mangot Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 is an elegant Right Bank Bordeaux with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, plum, violet, cocoa, and cedar. Richly textured yet beautifully balanced, it offers polished tannins, vibrant freshness, refined minerality, and a long, harmonious finish with excellent ageing potential.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast lamb, grilled ribeye, duck breast, beef tenderloin, wild mushroom dishes, or aged Gruyere for a classic Saint-Emilion pairing.
94 Points - Decanter
Bright plum hues introduce a wine full of vibrant fruit and generous texture. Muscular on the attack yet poised and focused, it pulses with blueberry fruit and saline-drenched minerality. Beautifully balanced and highly enjoyable, it finishes with notes of grilled herbs and smoked rosemary. Aged in 20% new oak and 30% amphora. The Frères Todeschini family are the owners of the estate. Barrel Sample: 94.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2020 Château Mangot has turned out beautifully, bursting with aromas of cherries, wild berries, rose petals, blood orange and bay leaf. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and seamless, it is pure and vibrant, with a layered core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, mouthwatering chalky finish. A brilliant wine that greatly exceeds expectations for its price and outperforms many of its more famous Saint-Émilion neighbors.
93 Points - James Suckling
A firm, linear Saint-Émilion with aromas and flavors of plum, bark, wet earth and mushrooms, complemented by hints of hazelnut. Medium-bodied, with chewy yet well-integrated tannins that give the wine excellent structure and balance. A classic expression of the appellation.
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Produced from vineyards on the eastern side of Saint-Émilion, the 2020 Château Mangot is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon. It delivers a classy, medium- to full-bodied style with an elegant, textured palate and complex aromas of bouquet garni, scorched earth, violets and leafy herbs. Layers of cassis and black cherries are framed by ripe, polished tannins and impressive length. Enjoyable in its youth, it also has the structure to evolve gracefully for 15–20 years in a cool cellar. Barrel Sample: 90–92.
