About the Chateau Mancedre Pessac-Leognan 2016
Château Mancèdre has a unique story within the Bordeaux wine region, narrating the recent creation of a wine estate. When the Trocard family discovered in 1993 that their grandparents’ small property contained seven and a half hectares available in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Jean Trocard decided to embark on the adventure. He planted a 50-are plot with Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (60%). He then built cellars and designed a space for wine enthusiasts that is bright, glass-walled, with views extending in all directions—overlooking the barrel cellar on one side, the vat room on another, and the Mancèdre vines.
From a technical perspective, leveraging his experience with various properties, Jean Trocard combines cutting-edge technologies with practical, down-to-earth knowledge gained from experience and observation. Currently, Jean Trocard harvests 12.90 hectares across four different plots. He ages his entire harvest in barrels, one-third of which are new. Château Mancèdre is a wine meant for aging, reaching its full maturity five to ten years after bottling.
