About the Chateau Lespault Martillac 2016
An elegant Pessac-Léognan with aromas of blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, plum, cedar, graphite, and baking spices. Beautifully structured and refined, it reveals silky tannins, vibrant freshness, layered complexity, and a long mineral finish that reflects the exceptional character of the 2016 vintage.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast lamb, beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, duck breast, wild mushrooms, aged Comté, braised short ribs, or truffle potatoes.
93 Points - James Suckling
Pronounced vanilla and full black cherries on the nose. Quite a generous, fleshy wine for this appellation in 2016. Rather soft tannins add a touch of warmth at the finish, balancing the cool acidity. Good length and harmony at the moderately dry finish. A blend of 70 per cent merlot and 30 per cent cabernet sauvignon.
