About the Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2022
Chateau Leoville Las Cases is one of Saint Julien's most iconic estates, renowned for producing wines of extraordinary precision, structure, and longevity. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry, graphite, cedar, cigar box, and violet unfold into a powerful palate with refined tannins, remarkable concentration, and an exceptionally long, elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, or aged Comte for an exceptional Bordeaux dining experience.
100 Points - James Suckling
Sophistication and pure beauty on the nose, showing intense lead pencil, black currants, ink and blackberries, along with crushed stones. Spellbinding. Medium-bodied, yet it grows endlessly across the palate, with superb tannins that caress like the finest silk. It simply keeps unfolding. The character is immaculate—ethereal. Power married to elegance. A blend of 83.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10.5% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot. It gives the impression that you could drink it now, but it deserves five to six more years of bottle age. A neoclassical masterpiece. Try after 2031, though if you decide to taste it now, I understand.
100 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Château Léoville Las Cases is just as remarkable in bottle as it was from barrel. Wafting from the glass with aromas of beautifully pure cassis fruit mingled with violets, burning embers and subtle cigar box, it has already almost completely integrated its new oak. Full-bodied, dense and layered, it is deep and resonant, displaying striking concentration, precision and harmony before finishing with extraordinary length and a palate-staining persistence. This exceptional Saint-Julien is one of the wines of the vintage and the finest young Léoville Las Cases I have ever tasted.
97 Points - Wine Spectator
Dark, winey and irresistibly alluring, this offers a deep reservoir of steeped black currant, blackberry and black cherry paste flavors with remarkable sap and intensity. Sweet bay leaf, violet, tobacco and applewood notes emerge along the way, adding superb complexity, while the long, cast-iron-edged finish draws everything to a precise and memorable conclusion. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Best from 2027 through 2045.
