About the Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2010
Chateau Leoville Las Cases is one of Saint Julien's most iconic estates, renowned for producing wines of extraordinary precision, structure, and longevity. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry, graphite, cedar, cigar box, and violet unfold into a powerful palate with refined tannins, remarkable concentration, and an exceptionally long, elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, or aged Comte for an exceptional Bordeaux dining experience.
100 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The most powerful wine in this vertical is the 2010 Château Léoville Las Cases, a full-bodied, deep and multidimensional behemoth redolent of rich berries, cassis, burning embers, pencil shavings and loamy soil. Broad-shouldered, layered and muscular, with huge reserves of concentration and sweet, powdery tannins, it concludes with a broad, resonant finish. This is a prodigious, somewhat imposing Léoville Las Cases that remains an infant even a decade after bottling.
100 Points - Wine Enthusiast
A hugely powerful wine, full of dark, brooding tannins. Built for seriously long-term aging, it is a sculptural expression of classic Bordeaux structure, supported by classy, ripe blackberry fruit. Fresh acidity and immense body are cut through by vibrant mineral tension. A truly great wine with extraordinary potential.
99 Points - Wine Spectator
Stunning and pure from the outset, with intense cassis and blackberry fruit. It ultimately takes a slightly austere approach, driven by a wrought-iron structure while notes of pastis, black tea, licorice snap and asphalt unfold beneath. Long and packed with grip, yet remarkably fine-grained. A beautifully chiseled Cabernet with outstanding precision and incredible length. Best from 2020 through 2040. 12,000 cases made.
99 Points - James Suckling
The aromas display beautiful purity, with raspberries, blueberries, currants and flowers leading into a full-bodied palate with exceptionally integrated tannins that feel like the finest silk. Elegant and refined, the fruit recalls the great vintages of 1989 and 1995, showing remarkable reserve and finesse. Bright, vibrant acidity provides both crunch and creaminess to the texture. This vintage contains a slightly higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon than the 2009. Give it at least six to eight more years of bottle age.
