About the Chateau Latour 2000
Chateau Latour is one of Bordeaux's most legendary First Growth estates, revered for its extraordinary concentration, structure, and unparalleled longevity. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, graphite, cedar, cigar box, violet, and fine spice unfold into a powerful palate with refined tannins, remarkable depth, and an exceptionally persistent finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, or aged Comte for an unforgettable First Growth Bordeaux experience.
100 Points - James Suckling
Château Latour has produced many truly great wines over the past two decades, and this is one of the finest. It offers fabulous aromas of black truffles, currants, raspberries and dried flowers. The palate is mind-blowing—an emotional and soulful red of extraordinary depth and elegance.
98 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This is an exceptionally expressive wine, with elegance defining its character. It is certainly immense, rich and densely structured, but there is so much more beneath the surface. Layer after layer of fruit and tannins unfolds without ever reaching the end of its complexity. At every stage of its evolution it will reveal a new dimension, though today it is still dominated by powerful tannins and immense black fruit.
97 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2000 growing season saw a warm, dry July and August followed by a small amount of rain from mid-September onward. Composed of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2000 Château Latour displays a deep garnet color and is beginning to show graceful evolution, revealing mature aromas of exotic fried spices, hoisin, unsmoked cigars and fruitcake, with hints of incense, potpourri, cast iron and charcuterie. Medium-bodied, soft, plush and savory on the palate, it finishes long with lingering mineral notes. Approximately 14,000 cases were produced, representing 48% of the estate's total production.
