About the Chateau Lalande 2019
Château Lalande 2019 is an elegant, well-structured Left Bank red wine crafted by owner and winemaker Pierre Meffre in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux. Sourced from deep gravel soils adjacent to renowned Classified Growths, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot undergoes traditional fermentation followed by aging in French oak barrels. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-purple color. The expressive nose features vibrant aromas of ripe cassis, black cherries, plum, cedar, graphite, and subtle baking spices. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with a supple texture, delivering concentrated dark berry fruit underpinned by balanced natural acidity and fine-grained, structured tannins that extend into a long, harmonious finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with grilled ribeye steak, roasted rack of lamb, braised beef short ribs, duck breast, and aged hard cheeses.
The 2019 Lalande is performing nicely in bottle, offering up aromas of cassis, dark berry fruit, loamy soil and cigar wrapper. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with lively acids and ripe tannins, it's a nicely balanced, characterful Saint-Julien that's already drinking well. Best After 2021.
