About the Famille Riviere Chateau Haut-Piquat 2006
Famille Rivière Château Haut-Piquat 2006 is a mature, well-structured Right Bank Bordeaux red wine from the Lussac-Saint-Émilion satellite appellation. Sourced from a 22-hectare estate planted on clay-limestone soils over Astérie limestone, it undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in concrete vats followed by aging in oak barrels. In the glass, it presents a deep ruby hue with evolving, complex aromas of ripe black currant, plum, and subtle notes of undergrowth, roasted oak, and vanilla spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied and rounded, featuring integrated, fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity, and classic secondary characteristics of leather, cedar, and dark berry fruit leading to a smooth, persistent finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb chops, braised beef short ribs, roasted duck, game birds, mushroom risotto, and mature semi-hard cheeses like Comté.
