About the Chateau Haut-Batailley 2018
The Château Haut-Batailley 2018 represents a significant "second vintage" under the management of the Cazes family (owners of Château Lynch-Bages). This vintage is distinctive for its unusually high proportion of Merlot, which contributes to a more opulent, "virile," and unctuous style than is traditional for the estate. The 2018 season’s heat resulted in a powerful Pauillac with notable alcohol levels and a massive tannic structure that bodes well for long-term aging. It is characterized by deep notes of black cherry, lavender, and dark chocolate, balanced by the classic Pauillac mineral signature of pencil lead and graphite.

I can’t remember a Haut-Batailley this tannic, yet the tannins are savory and very ripe with beauty and purity. Full-bodied, chewy tannins and a long and intense finish.
