Chateau Guiraud Sauternes 2008

Chateau Guiraud is a Premier Grand Cru Classe estate producing a richly honeyed Sauternes from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Expect luscious notes of apricot, peach, candied citrus, saffron, and vanilla, with a vibrant acidity that balances the wine's opulent sweetness and gives it remarkable aging potential.

Food Pairing: Foie gras, Roquefort and other blue cheeses, fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, and fresh stone fruit tarts pair beautifully.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Firm, richly structured, powered through with botrytis, a dried apricot and peach character, which is tight, the acidity compensating with a great vivid character.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Tasted as part of a vertical held at the chateau. It is clear that the aromatics on the 2008 are a little simpler and more straightforward than the 2007 with honeysuckle, jasmine and mango scents emerging with time. The palate is ripe and precise on the entry with well-integrated oak that is in sync with the lemon curd and apricot fruit. There is a lovely sweetness on the finish with a hint of spice lingering in the mouth. As I wrote last year – sublime. Drink 2017-2030+.

92 Points - Wine Spectator

A ripe, flashy style, with layers of creamed peach, Jonagold apple, candied citrus peel and dried apricot, all stitched with lovely acacia honey and floral notes. This has power and purity. Drink now through 2022. 3,500 cases made.
