Richly concentrated yet impeccably refined, it delivers firm tannins, vibrant freshness, remarkable precision, and an extraordinarily long, age-worthy finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, roast lamb, duck breast, venison, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, or braised short ribs.
97 Points - Decanter
The 2022 Château Gruaud Larose is another superbly consistent release, expressing the estate's terroir with crystalline purity and remarkable charm. Smooth, supple and refined, it balances concentrated fruit with vibrant acidity and finely structured tannins. Mineral, graphite and licorice notes linger through the energetic finish, while impressive precision and freshness suggest outstanding aging potential. Produced from just 40% of the harvest, with 13% Cabernet Sauvignon press wine, it is both approachable and built for the long haul.
97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with 14% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Gruaud Larose was aged in 95% new French oak. Deeply colored and intensely aromatic, it reveals crème de cassis, pencil shavings, violets and crushed stone minerality. Full-bodied with exceptional concentration, polished tannins and impressive mid-palate depth, it is a powerful yet elegant Saint-Julien that deserves a decade of cellaring before revealing its full potential.
96 Points - James Suckling
A discreet yet deeply complex bouquet of dark fruit and mineral notes introduces a wine of impressive intensity and structure. Full-bodied with polished, finely textured tannins, it unfolds gradually before finishing with exceptional persistence that lingers for nearly a minute.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Château Gruaud Larose opens with aromas of dark berries, violets, vine smoke, pen ink and tar. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, it offers a rich core of fruit supported by sweet, refined tannins and an expansive finish. Bottled at 13.6% alcohol, it represents the estate's first organically certified vintage and showcases outstanding balance, depth and longevity.
