About the Chateau Figeac 2021
A Premier Grand Cru Classé A and one of Saint-Émilion's most iconic estates, Château Figeac reveals captivating aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, violet, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle baking spice. Powerful yet impeccably refined, it delivers silky tannins, vibrant freshness, exceptional precision, and an extraordinarily long, elegant finish with remarkable aging potential.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, duck breast, venison, mushroom risotto, black truffle dishes, aged Comté, or braised short ribs.
97 Points - Decanter
Deep, complex and exceptionally precise, the 2021 Château Figeac is one of the standout wines of the vintage. Gripping yet refined, it combines vibrant acidity, wet stone minerality and crystalline fruit with outstanding tannin integration and impressive mid-palate depth. A lingering salty, licorice-tinged finish adds further complexity, creating a wine of remarkable freshness, texture and irresistible balance.
97 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Built around a blend containing 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this wine is fresh, structured and beautifully balanced. Ripe black currant fruit, subtle spice and lively acidity define a refined expression of the vintage, with elegance and aging potential in equal measure.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A wine that rises above the challenges of the vintage, the 2021 Château Figeac offers captivating aromas of raspberries, cherries, violet, rose petal, iris and mint. Medium- to full-bodied with a satiny texture, it delivers vibrant fruit wrapped in ultra-refined tannins before finishing long, floral and remarkably elegant. Produced after the estate delayed harvesting its Cabernet Sauvignon despite threatening weather, the wine spent 16 months in barrel without fining, resulting in one of the vintage's most graceful Saint-Émilions.
95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc and 29% Merlot, the 2021 Château Figeac displays aromas of red and black currants, tobacco, lead pencil and violet. Medium-bodied with impeccable balance, refined tannins and exceptional purity, it stands among the finest wines of the vintage. While already approachable, it will benefit from 4–6 years of cellaring and continue evolving for at least 20 years.
95 Points - James Suckling
Elegant aromas of graphite, plums, berries and dried flowers lead into a medium-bodied palate with juicy fruit, iron and subtle chocolate notes. Firm, integrated tannins provide structure, while the lightly chewy finish suggests considerable aging potential. Produced in the first vintage from the estate's new winery, it is best enjoyed after 2027.
