About the Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2016
Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2016 is a Saint-Julien red blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. Concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry fruit meets impressive depth, tension, and velvety texture. Firm structure and polished tannins frame the fruit, delivering a powerful yet refined expression with classic Saint-Julien finesse.
Food Pairing: Pairs best with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb rack, braised short ribs, or duck breast.
100 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
A profoundly concentrated and powerful 2016 with exceptional purity, integrated acidity, layered texture, substantial tannic structure, and remarkable persistence. The wine is built for extended bottle ageing and has the depth and balance for a very long evolution.
99 Points - James Suckling
Highly perfumed with violet, blueberry, cassis, blackberry, and dark plum aromas. Beautifully ripe fruit is supported by polished tannins and a layered, velvety texture, leading into a vibrant, seductive finish accented by chocolate.
98 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep purple-black in appearance, with baked plum, blueberry preserve, fruitcake, boysenberry, lilac, mocha, hoisin, exotic spice, and cedar aromas. Rich and full-bodied, with abundant preserved black fruit and spice supported by a firm, grainy tannic structure and exceptional length.
98 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Dense and richly fruited while remaining controlled by complex structure and ripe fruit. Its considerable power comes from both its fruit concentration and structural framework, giving the wine the foundation for exceptionally long development in bottle.
97 Points - Decanter
Ripe yet restrained aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry lead to a highly concentrated palate with velvety texture, tension, muscle, and depth. Despite its youthful, chewy structure, the wine avoids excessive extraction and maintains the finesse associated with Saint-Julien.
97 Points - Wine Spectator
Blackberry, cassis, and plum flavors are joined by mocha, incense, and fruitcake nuances. The palate combines a plush texture with serious grip, substantial depth, and a distinctive character, finishing with the structure required for extended ageing.
