About the Chateau Bellevue Mondotte 2011
Chateau Bellevue Mondotte is an exceptionally rare Saint Emilion Grand Cru produced from a tiny limestone hillside vineyard. Dominated by Merlot, it reveals intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, plum preserves, rose petals, graphite, and exotic spice. The palate is rich and opulent with velvety tannins, remarkable freshness, and an extraordinarily long, mineral-driven finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, or aged Comte for a world-class Right Bank Bordeaux experience.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A little gem owned by the Perse family, the 2011 Château Bellevue-Mondotte is a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Produced from tiny yields and a late harvest, it is an intensely concentrated wine without a trace of bitterness. Deep black-ruby-purple in color, it delivers a powerful, rich and exceptionally pure profile with stunning balance. While many 2011s are expected to show their best within 15–20 years, this remarkable cuvée has the structure and concentration to evolve gracefully for 30 years or more.
93 Points - James Suckling
A beautifully balanced Bellevue-Mondotte offering richness and refinement, with aromas and flavors of chocolate, ripe berries and subtle hints of coffee. Full-bodied, the palate is supported by chewy yet velvety tannins that lead to a long, flavorful finish. It benefits from three to four years of bottle age to fully integrate and soften. Best from 2016.
93 Points - Wine Spectator
A bold and expressive wine packed with crushed fig, blackberry and plum flavors, layered with melted black licorice, warm ganache and Turkish coffee notes. Rich and generous, it combines impressive fruit concentration with a plush mouthfeel, excellent length and clear definition, making it one of the standout efforts of the vintage. Best from 2016 through 2026.
