The 2022 Château Batailley is a commanding expression of Pauillac—structured, refined, and built for the ages. In a vintage marked by intensity and concentration, this wine stands out for its balance of power and finesse, showcasing the gravelly terroir and traditional craftsmanship for which Batailley is known.
The wine is a beautiful dark colour. Intense, the nose gives off intense fruity (black fruit), spicy and organic fragrances. Ample and smooth, the palate delights with its tannic structure, its fruity aromas and its creamy finish.
Bold and complex with aromas of blackcurrant, violet, graphite, and tobacco. Full-bodied with a dense core of dark fruits, plum, blackberry and cassis wrapped in finely textured tannins. Undertones of pencil lead, and crushed herbs provide layered depth. Long and resonant, with notes of spice and toasted oak, promising decades of evolution in bottle.

The blackcurrants and lead pencil reveal themselves immediately with so many fresh-flower undertones like violets. Medium-bodied, this has intense yet refined tannins that show length and elegance as well as structure. A fine interpretation of the vintage. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot and 3% petit verdot.
