About the Chateau Ausone 2010
Chateau Ausone is one of Bordeaux's most legendary estates, producing Saint Emilion wines of extraordinary elegance, precision, and longevity. Crafted primarily from Cabernet Franc and Merlot, it reveals aromas of black cherry, cassis, violet, graphite, cedar, and exotic spice. The palate is seamlessly balanced with refined tannins, remarkable minerality, and an exceptionally long, graceful finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with beef Wellington, roast lamb, venison, duck breast, truffle dishes, or aged Comte for an unforgettable Right Bank Bordeaux experience.
98 Points - James Suckling
The bouquet is remarkably deep and seemingly endless, revealing layers of dried strawberries, blueberries, incense, citrus and hints of prune. Full-bodied, it combines chewy yet beautifully polished tannins with exceptional tension, focus and balance. Richness and delicacy coexist seamlessly, giving the wine an almost Burgundian elegance driven by its remarkable purity of fruit. A blend of 55% Cabernet Franc and 45% Merlot. Best from 2020.
98 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Although the influence of new oak is immediately apparent, the generous fruit more than rises to the occasion, delivering ripe blackberry and red plum flavors of impressive depth. The spice from the oak integrates beautifully with the wine's concentration, leading to a long, perfumed finish.
97 Points - Wine Spectator
Exceptionally sappy and intense, this wine offers vibrant flavors of red licorice, red currant and violet supported by taut acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish. It masterfully balances power with austerity, delivering outstanding precision, structure and drive. A superb choice for those who appreciate firmly structured, age-worthy wines.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Château Ausone opens with mature aromas of leather, iron ore, Marmite toast and prunes, complemented by hints of dried herbs, charcuterie and a subtle medicinal note. Full-bodied, it is supported by vibrant acidity and well-integrated, chewy tannins that frame the evolving fruit, finishing with an elegant herbal lift.
