About the Chateau Angelus 2021
Chateau Angelus is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru produced from an estate vineyard dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with Petit Verdot also planted. Its south-facing clay-limestone terroir contributes to a style combining density, freshness, silky tannins, elegance, and precision, with each vintage blended individually.
Food Pairing: Pairs best with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, or duck breast.
96 Points - Wine Enthusiast
The wine has perfumed Cabernet Franc aromas with violet, spice and touches of black-fruit tannins. Smoky with tannins, a serious, dense structure and succulent richness, the wine is powerful, impressively rich, ready to drink from 2028.
95 Points - James Suckling
This is delicious, showing focused cherries, flowers, dried sandalwood and Indian spices. Medium-bodied with fine tannins, pure fruit and a subtle, refined finish. The blend is 40% Merlot and 60% Cabernet Franc.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Angelus reveals dark berries, plums and cherries with rose petals, forest floor, spices and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, layered and vibrant, it has a deep fruit core, chalky tannins and a long, perfumed finish, with its oak influence more restrained than in the past.
