About the Eric Rodez Maceration Brut Rose Grand Cru
A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Grand Cru holdings in Ambonnay (Les Grandes Ruelles, Le Moulin, Les Bouités, La Pierre aux Larrons, Les Cheminots, Les Hauts Touets. The average vine age is 40 years. Roughly 40% of the Pinot Noir was macerated on skins to extract colour, 30% Pinot Noir directly from the press, and 30% Chardonnay. Fermentation is generally done in barrels with reserve wines averaging 40-50% of the blend.
Aromas of red apple, cranberry, and apricot with notes of citrus oil on the nose. Rich, full, and broad on the palate with a red berry & orchard fruit core, ripe acidity, a fine creamy mouse, vinous, great depth and power, and a long expressive finish with hints of saline mineral.
