About the Vinedo Chadwick 2019
Viñedo Chadwick 2019 is an extraordinarily elegant, precise, and masterfully structured icon red wine from Chile, celebrating the 25th anniversary vintage of this historic estate. Sourced entirely from the high-altitude alluvial gravel terraces of Puente Alto in the Maipo Valley—originally the personal polo field of Alfonso Chadwick—this vintage benefited from a moderately warm growing season balanced by a cooler March, allowing for a long, gentle maturation of the grapes. Displaying a beautiful, brilliant ruby-red color with a violet shimmer, the wine opens with an alluring, multi-layered bouquet of fresh cherries, raspberries, and black fruits, delicately framed by notes of sweet baking spices like cloves and nutmeg, alongside pastries and a subtle floral touch. On the palate, it exhibits a full-bodied yet remarkably agile and focused mouthfeel driven by a concentrated core of red berries and raspberry pie, seamlessly balanced by great tension, crystalline freshness, and incredibly polished, silky tannins before tapering into an endlessly persistent and sophisticated mineral-drenched finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs spectacularly with rosemary-crusted rack of lamb, charcoal-grilled dry-aged ribeye steak, slow-braised wild boar stew, or roasted venison loin with a juniper reduction.

The 2019 Viñedo Chadwick is a classical Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto, one of the best zones within Maipo. It's from a moderately warm vintage that delivered a wine with only 13% alcohol and good freshness. It contains some 3% Petit Verdot. The vines were planted in 1992, and its gapes fermented in equal parts in stainless steel and concrete or troncoconic vats. Three-fourths of the wine matured in new barriques and the rest in Stockinger foudres for 22 months, including time for the malolactic fermentation. I was truly impressed by this vintage, especially because of its elegance and freshness. There are showy aromas reminiscent of tangerine and flowers, ripe red berries (rather than black) and a spicy twist from the oak but nothing herbal or balsamic that one could expect given the moderate ripeness. The grapes were picked very early, and the wine follows the path of the 2016, the coolest vintage so far, with juicy fruit, elegance and great tension. This feels exceptional and transcends the style of the year. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled the 25th of January 2021.
94 Points - Wine Spectator
Very elegant and refined, with a suave minerality to the red cherry and dried raspberry flavors, which are backed by crisp acidity and tannins. The fine-grained finish has hints of underbrush, notes of dried savory spice and a dollop of mint. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2026.
