Castiglion del Bosco Millecento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012 is an extraordinary, highly concentrated expression of 100% Sangiovese, produced only in exceptional vintages from the estate's historic Capanna vineyard planted in schistous galestro soils. Benefiting from a warm and excellent growing season, this Riserva underwent natural fermentation before being meticulously matured for 36 months in large French oak barrels and an additional 24 months in bottle prior to release. In the glass, it displays a deep, luminous ruby-red color with mature garnet reflections. The nose is remarkably complex and decadent, revealing an exotic bouquet of ripe black cherries, wild plums, and dried rose petals, intricately layered with sophisticated notes of Indian spices, black truffles, fresh leather, and cedar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, profoundly deep, and rich, showcasing a densely concentrated core of dark fruit beautifully framed by polished, velvety tannins and a balancing acidity that carries into a remarkably long, savory, and energetic finish.
