Cascahuin Reposado Tequila

Cascahuín Reposado Tequila is an exceptional, highly traditional aged expression from Tequila Cascahuín (NOM 1123) in El Arenal, Jalisco. Crafted using 100% blue Weber agave cooked in traditional masonry ovens, this tequila stands out for its unique aging process: it spends six to eight months resting in "spent" American white oak barrels that have been used for tequila maturation for over twenty years. This minimalist approach allows the wood to subtly soften the spirit's edges and impart delicate layers of honey and vanilla without overpowering the vibrant, earthy core of the highland agave.

Food Pairing: This beautifully balanced reposado pairs spectacularly with savory Mexican dishes like pork carnitas, chicken thighs in mole poblano, or grilled skirt steak fajitas. Its gentle wood notes and warm spices also make it a wonderful companion to aged semi-hard cheeses like Manchego, or sweet treats like churros dipped in caramel sauce.

TASTING NOTES - A clean, bright, natural straw-yellow gold hue. The texture is medium-bodied, remarkably smooth, and offers a velvety, silky mouthfeel across the palate.

NOSE - Inviting and aromatic, featuring a prominent core of sweet cooked agave blended with gentle aromas of honey, light vanilla, and soft cinnamon, underlined by a distinctive note of dry earth and minerals.

PALATE - Balanced and full of character. Rich flavors of sweet caramelized agave and soft oak woodiness open the entry, followed seamlessly by subtle notes of warm butterscotch, light citrus peel, and a delicate touch of herbal spice.

FINISH - Medium to long, clean, and refreshing. The initial wood sweetness fades elegantly, leaving a lingering, satisfying baseline of sweet cooked agave, dry oak warmth, and a soft hint of black pepper.

SERVE - Best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a traditional Riedel tequila glass or a spirits snifter to fully appreciate its balanced agave and subtle barrel characteristics. It also serves as an ultra-premium base for a sophisticated twist on a classic Old Fashioned or a refined Paloma.
