Caprili Brunello di Montalcino is a benchmark of traditional winemaking from the southwestern sector of the Montalcino appellation, near the hamlet of Tavernelle. Established in 1965, the estate is known for its "old guard" philosophy, utilizing native yeast fermentations and long maturation periods in large, neutral Slavonian oak casks for up to 36 months. This patient process results in a wine that captures the pure essence of the Sangiovese Grosso grape, harvested from high-altitude vineyards. On the nose, it offers a sophisticated bouquet of ripe cherries, violets, and earthy spices, accented by hints of leather and wild herbs. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured, featuring vibrant acidity and velvety tannins that support layers of dark fruit and a distinct stony minerality.

That initial intensity ties into black licorice (of the candied variety), sweet spice and fragrant incense. This is an open-knit Brunello with velvety, medium-grained tannins to support a pairing with lamb or pork. You don't need to wait too long to enjoy this wine.
