Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Falletto Riserva 2020 is an extraordinary, iconic red wine crafted by Bruna Giacosa and enologist Bruna Giacosa from their famed 2.5-hectare estate plot in the prestigious Asili cru. Adorned with the legendary red label—reserved exclusively for exceptional vintages—it underwent 20 days of fermentation in stainless steel followed by 20 months of aging in large French oak casks and extensive bottle refinement. In the glass, it exhibits a radiant ruby-garnet color. The nose is deeply complex and expressive, revealing alluring aromas of wild raspberry, dark cherry, dried rose petals, lavender, incense, and Asian spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured, and muscular yet remarkably silky and elegant, showcasing concentrated red berry fruit layered with fine, firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, echoing mineral finish.

Packaged with the red label, the Bruno Giacosa 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Asili was a little shy when I tasted it, but it clearly has the runway for long cellar aging. It opens to a medium-plus texture with a darker hue of ruby red. The tannins are elegant and fine, and although this was a warm vintage, the fruit feels very fresh and taut. You get good structure and firm tannins to carry it over the long term.
