About the Brancaia Ilatraia 2021
Brancaia Ilatraia 2021 is an exceptionally structured, elegant, and deeply expressive Super Tuscan red wine that celebrates the 20th anniversary ("20 Anni") of this landmark coastal bottling. Sourced from organic estate vineyards in the sandy-loam soils of the warm Maremma region, this full-bodied blend is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques (50% new and 50% second passage) followed by a year of bottle maturation. In the glass, it presents a deep ruby-red color with violet reflections. The nose is remarkably complex and intense, offering rich aromas of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, and fresh violet, elegantly layered with suggestions of graphite, fresh mint, sweet tobacco, and baking spices. On the palate, the wine delivers marvelous density and power, balancing its concentrated dark fruit profile with a precise line of refreshing acidity and velvety, finely integrated tannins that lead to an extraordinarily long, savory finish accented by notes of cinnamon.
Food Pairing: Pairs exquisitely with grilled Florentine steak, rosemary-infused roasted rack of lamb, slow-braised wild boar ragù, or matured Tuscan pecorino cheese.

The Brancaia 2021 Ilatraia is an organic blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. I like the restyled front label design presented with this vintage. This is a bold and generous wine with sweet fruit, blackberry preserves, baking spice and hints of pipe tobacco. The Ilatraia hits the palate with power, but the tannins are softly integrated for a full-bodied but velvety close.
