Bowmore 9 Year Old is an approachable and highly accessible addition to the permanent lineup of Islay’s oldest licensed distillery. Engineered as a welcoming entryway for those curious about peated Scotch without wanting to dive into a total "peat bomb," it marries Bowmore's medium-peated coastal distillate with a heavy cask influence. The spirit is matured for a minimum of nine years in a combination of hand-selected American oak ex-bourbon barrels and European oak Oloroso sherry butts and puncheons. This dual aging yields a beautifully balanced profile where ocean salinity, dark sherry fruit, and Bowmore's signature gentle smoke live in total harmony.

Food Pairing: Freshly shucked oysters, sweet and savory barbecue pork dumplings, buttery brioche shrimp toast, or dark chocolate-covered ginger.

TASTING NOTES Deep burnished walnut amber with a bright, clean, and light-to-medium body that goes down smoothly.

NOSE Inviting and complex, opening with apple-sweet sherry, stewed plums, and moist currants, balanced by a gentle background whisper of coastal peat smoke, dark cocoa, and a faint hint of warm straw.

PALATE A richly layered interplay of sweet and savory; initial notes of cinnamon-dusted raisins, nectarine, and caramel syrup transition into oily tobacco leaf, a distinctive touch of maritime sea salt, and soft wood smoke.
