About the Both's Old Tom Gin
Crafted according to an original 18th-century recipe from the Both Distillery (established in 1886), Both's Old Tom Gin represents a classic historic bridge between sweet Dutch Genever and modern London Dry style gins. Lightly sweetened following distillation, this traditional Old Tom style delivers a rounder, richer palate that highlights piney juniper alongside warm baking spices and subtle citrus zest.
Food Pairing: Rich fruit tarts, lemon meringue pie, charcuterie with salty cured meats, blue cheese crostini, or roasted pork belly.
Tasting Notes: Crystal clear in appearance with a smooth, velvety, and slightly viscous mouthfeel.
Nose: Soft and invitingly sweet upfront, with candied citrus peel, subtle vanilla, and warm coriander leading into a gentle piney juniper core.
Palate: Richly layered with a subtle, delicate sweetness, unfolding notes of candied orange, lemon oil, earthy licorice root, and warm baking spice balanced by crisp juniper.
Finish: Medium-long, smooth, and pleasantly sweet with lingering hints of citrus zest, soft pine, and warm earthy spice.
Serve: Serve over large ice cubes with premium tonic water or soda, or use as the authentic base in classic 19th-century cocktails like the Tom Collins, Martinez, or Ramos Gin Fizz.
