About the Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2018
The 2018 Boekenhoutskloof Syrah is a highly acclaimed South African red wine from the Swartland region, described by critics as powerful yet elegant with a distinct "Old World" Rhone-like character. This vintage is particularly notable as it was the third consecutive year using only Swartland grapes, primarily sourced from the Porseleinberg (80%) and Goldmine (20%) vineyards.
94 Points - James Suckling
Aromas of blueberries, plums, olives, grilled herbs and peppercorns. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Fresh, layered and well-balanced with a delicious, savory core of dark fruit. Pretty olive notes on the spicy finish. Classic syrah. Drink now or hold.
93 Points - Wine Spectator
A graceful Syrah that entices with the floral- and spice-laced nose, which offers a fragrant range accenting the palate's flavors of ripe black raspberry and black plum, Earl Grey tea leaf and tar-tinged mineral. Long and well-knit, with sculpted, lightly chalky tannins firming the finish. Drink now through 2028. 20 cases imported.
