Birichino Scylla 2023

Birichino Scylla 2023 is a vibrant old-vine blend of Carignane, Mourvèdre, and Grenache from heritage blocks across California’s Central Coast. Native fermentations, neutral barrels, and no fining or filtration preserve its luminous ruby hue and aromas of red cherry, pomegranate, cracked pepper, and dried thyme. The palate is light on its feet yet broad-shouldered, with juicy fruit, lively acidity, and a savory mineral finish.

Another very likable, chillable red from this producer, the light-bodied 2023 Scylla combines 71% Carignane with 17% Mourvèdre and 12% Grenache into a tight, earthy package of leather, black pepper, and gamey meat. While light on its feet in 13.0% alcohol, the mouthfeel is broad-shouldered and widely appealing.
