Biondi-Santi Tenuta Greppo Rosso di Montalcino 2016

This wine was originally known as the Biondi-Santi “White Label Brunello”, but changed its name in 1983, when the Rosso di Montalcino DOC was established. It reflects the signature style of our high-altitude vineyards with a vibrant freshness and a distinct fruitiness which makes it thoroughly enjoyable at a young age.

The Biondi-Santi Tenuta Greppo Rosso di Montalcino 2016 is a highly regarded vintage that offers a "Brunello-like" depth and structure, benefiting from a balanced growing season with significant temperature swings that enhanced its aromatic complexity. Historically known as the estate's "White Label Brunello," this wine is crafted from the property's youngest Sangiovese Grosso (BBS11) vines, typically under 10 years of age.

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Underbrush, wild berry, rose and camphor aromas waft out of the glass along with whiffs of rosemary and graphite on this medium-bodied red. It's linear, savory and balanced, delivering red-cherry, pomegranate, star anise and white-pepper flavors set against vibrant acidity and polished tannins. It shows breeding and finesse. It's ready now or you could hold for even more complexity. Drink through 2026

92 Points - James Suckling

This is a rich, flavorful Rosso with firm tannins and bright acidity. Medium body. Firm and beautiful. Hints of chocolate and spice. Drink or hold.
