Critic tasting note: (2018 vintage) "Don Tiburcio Benegas brought this material from Bordeaux and planted it in Mendoza around 1899. Today those vineyards, spread out on both sides of the Mendoza River, are among the oldest cabernet franc vines in South America and, probably, in the world. Benegas has part of that original material, which was planted at Finca La Libertad in Cruz de Piedra, and, in this 2018 vintage, it offers what may be the best version to date. The grape's radiant red fruit and herbal aromas come through clearly here in a body with firm, sharp tannins and fresh fruit flavors in the background.
