Baron de Ley Gran Reserva is a benchmark expression of Rioja, designed to showcase the extraordinary elegance and complexity that only extended aging can achieve. Sourced primarily from estate vineyards in Mendavia, this wine is crafted mainly from Tempranillo, often blended with a small percentage of other local varieties like Graciano to add structure and acidity. Following a traditional vinification, the wine is matured for a minimum of 24 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by at least three years of further refinement in the bottle before release. On the nose, it offers an opulent bouquet of ripe blackberries and plum compote, seamlessly layered with sophisticated tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, and balsamic. The palate is full-bodied yet silky, featuring well-integrated tannins and deep flavours of dark fruit, toasted cocoa, and sweet spices that lead to a long, persistent finish.
