About the Baron De Ley Siete Vinas Reserva Rioja 2017
Barón de Ley Siete Viñas Reserva is a unique "Slow Rioja" and a tribute to biodiversity, crafted from a single 70-year-old vineyard containing all seven authorized Rioja grape varieties: Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha Tinta, Mazuelo, Viura, Malvasía, and Garnacha Blanca. This complex blend undergoes four separate vinifications before aging for 36 months in various oak casks and an additional 12 months in large French oak foudres. The resulting wine displays an elegant cherry colour with ruby hues, offering a fragrant bouquet of ripe berries, roses, and violets accented by hints of black cherry, butterscotch, and ground anise. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied and rich in nuances with silky tannins and a tobacco undertone
94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
A blend of Tempranillo and six other varieties including tiny amounts of three white grapes, this wine has aromas of cherry, caramel and lilac. A bold floral note underlies flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, milk chocolate, butterscotch, licorice and black tea set into generous tannins. The enduring finished is marked with notes of caramel and rose petal.
