La Ca' Nova Barbaresco Montestefano 2020 750ml

Vineyard notes: "The grapes for this Barbaresco wine come from different vineyards on the La Ca Növa estate, all of which are located within the municipality of Barbaresco."

Barbaresco is one of the great wines of the Piedmont region in northwestern Italy. Historically it was called Nebbiolo di Barbaresco and was used by the Austrian General Melas to celebrate his victory over the French in 1799.

Only in the middle of the 19th Century was the wine we know today vinified into a dry style. This aristocratic red was awarded its DOCG classification in 1980.

The variety is the superstar grape variety behind the top-quality red wines across northwestern Italy, and in particular, the heady, powerful reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are often distinctively perfumed with an aroma described as "tar and roses"; along with a moderate body; strong, tannic backbone; and high, fresh acidity. Top examples are much coveted and can command high prices.
